2010/2011 Dress Code

Find your childs class/level listed below as all classes/levels have different items needed.  All of our dance shoes, except clogging are available through www.discountdance.com  Go to their website and on the right side in the black bar click on Dance Teacher Program then on the next page on the left side go down the list and click on 4teachers then on the next page go to the left side and go down to find Washington and click on it then on the next page we should be the first studio listed and you can find your child's dance shoes this way.

STAR BABIES, MINI STARS

• ATTIRE: Any color of leotard, biketard, or ballet dress-  Ballet skirts are allowed.  Tights or socks any color- NO BARE FEET
• SHOES: Pink Leather ballet shoes (no pink slippers from WalMart, Target or Sears), Black Patent Leather Mary Jane tap shoes.  Both these types of shoes are available at Payless shoes...if they do not have the correct color or size just ask them to order your shoes and they will.  The shoes can also be ordered at www.discountdance.com.
• HAIR: Must be secured off of face & held back in ponytail, pigtails, braids, or bun.            

PETITES I & II

• ATTIRE: Any color of leotard, biketard, or ballet dress-  Ballet skirts, capri's & athletic shorts are allowed.  Tights or socks any color- NO BARE FEET
• SHOES: Tap on Tap by Bloch tap shoe in black (style #SO302G-child & SO302L-adult), Jazz Bootie by Dance Now jazz shoes in black (style #DN981G-child & DN981L-adult)  Shoes are available at www.discountdance.com
• HAIR: Must be secured off of face & held back in ponytail, pigtails, braids, or bun.            

PETITES III & TWEENS I

• ATTIRE: Any color of leotard or biketard-  Capri's & booty or athletic shorts are allowed.  Tights or socks any color- NO BARE FEET
• SHOES: Tap on Tap by Bloch tap shoe in black (style #SO302G-child & SO302L-adult),  Capezio slip on jazz shoes in tan (style #CGO5C-child & CGO5-adult)  Shoes are available at www.discountdance.com
• HAIR: Must be secured off of face & held back in ponytail, pigtails, braids, or bun. 

TWEENS II, INTERMEDIATE TAP/JAZZ & ADVANCED TAP/JAZZ/LYRICAL

• ATTIRE: Any solid colored leotard.  A fitted cami/tank may be worn over leotard (not a t-shirt or sweatshirt unless studio is too cold).  Booty or dance/athletic shorts may be worn.
• SHOES: "Respect" tap shoe by Bloch in black (style #SO361L), Capezio Pedini teaching sandal for jazz/lyrical in tan (style #321)
• HAIR: Must be secured off of face & held back in ponytail, pigtails, braids, or bun. 

HIP HOP

• Sweat pants or basketball style shorts only...NO JEANS.  Sweathsirts, t-shirts, or fitted cami's/tanks...NO MIDRIFFS.
• SHOES: Tennis shoes (ALL WHITE) that are not worn anywhere but the dance floor...DO NOT wear them outside...must be brought to dance class and put on.  ATTENTION TUESDAY 4:30pm HIP HOP ELMA & WEDNESDAY 5:45pm HIP HOP ABERDEEN you will be using black low top canvas Converse shoes for the recitals this year so if you want to purchase those to wear to class you may (but DO NOT wear them outside!)

BALLET ONLY CLASSES

• ATTIRE: Solid Black leotard any style and Pink tights.
• SHOES: PINK SPLIT SOLE ballet shoes-canvas or leather...prefer canvas. (style #S1C for canvas #S1L for leather).  MUST wear ballet shoes- NO BARE FEET or socks!
• HAIR: MUST be in a nice neat BUN using gel and hairspray.  Bun must be secured.  Hair net is highly recommended.  No messy buns.  Bangs must be back also.  A "Hair" scrunchie may be worn around the bun.

CONTEMPORARY

• ATTIRE: Any solid colored leotard.  A fitted cami/tank may be worn over leotard (not a t-shirt or sweatshirt unless studio is too cold).  Booty, dance/athletic shorts or ballet skirt may be worn.
• SHOES: Capezio Pedini teaching sandal in tan (style #321)
• HAIR: Must be secured off of face & held back in ponytail, pigtails, braids, or bun.
  

CLOGGING

• ATTIRE: Sweatpants, jazz pants, capri's, shorts or skirts (pants must be above the heel on the shoe)...NO JEANS!  Sweatshirts, t-shirts or cami/tanks...NO MIDRIFFS.
• SHOES: Steven Stompers..."Kids Stompers" or "Ms. Stompers" with buck taps in black (style #506 + 446-child & #507 + 447-adult). DO NOT get the CHILDREN'S DANCE CLASS shoe get the STOMPER shoe!  Order the shoes through Steven Clogging www.stevens-clogging.com
• HAIR: Must be secured off of face & held back in ponytail, pigtails, braids, or bun. 

MALE DANCERS IN TAP/JAZZ/LYRICAL CLASSES

• ATTIRE: Basketball style shorts, dress pants, or sweatpants (above the heel on your shoe) and a t-shirt or tank. NO JEANS!
• SHOES: Black oxford tap shoes & Black Capezio slip on jazz shoes.
• HAIR: Kept out of eyes.
