OUR POLICY

2008-2009
Policies and Information

Please read: You are responsible for reading ALL of HIGH IMPACT DANCE ACADEMY information and policies.

1.    REGISTRATION, REGISTRATION FEE, AND TUITION:

An annual registration fee is required with the completed registration form, along with the first tuition payment to reserve class space, otherwise your space may be given away.  Tuition payments are due no later than the first day of the month and are considered late on the fifth of the month with a $15.00 late fee assessed.  Students will not be able to attend class after the 15th of the month if tuition is not paid for the month.  Tuition is based on 9 equal payments, covering the months of September through May. You are not given a monthly bill, it is your responsibility to stay current.  We will only bill balances owed at the end of the dance year and a $10.00 billing fee will be applied.  NO CASH ACCEPTED, CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS ONLY!  A $25.00 fee will be applied to all N.S.F. checks.  ALL FEES PAID ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.  Tuition amounts remain the same whether it is a long (5 week) or short (2 week) month and regardless of the students absences, as it is based on a pre-determined number of classes per dance year.  A 10% discount will be given to anyone paying the full 9 payments by September 1, 2008 and 5% for paying in two installments 1) September 1, 2008 (2.5% deducted) and 2) January 5, 2009 (2.5% deducted).  Tuition payments are not refundable, no exceptions. Anyone dropping classes must do so in person at the studio by filling out a withdrawal form (not by phone or email, no exceptions) before the 15th of the month prior, to stop payments from accruing.  After the 15th the next tuition payment is owed.  In addition, one tuition payment will be collected if classes are dropped before the ninth payment has been collected and must be paid in order to complete the withdrawal process, no exceptions.  There are no refunds or make-up classes for student absences.  If your tuition payments become delinquent at anytime, High Impact Dance reserves the right to refuse service to you until payments become current, including those accruing during absence.  If you drop classes prior to the ninth payment, High Impact Dance may not accept future registration from you.

2.    HOLIDAYS:

We close for Thanksgiving week, Christmas and Spring Breaks.  Christmas and Spring Break will follow the Aberdeen & Elma School Districts.  Other holiday dates will be announced individually and will be posted on the bulletin board, otherwise classes will be held.

3.    SNOW DAYS OR OTHER NATURAL INCIDENCE DAYS:

The studio will be closed for snow days or other natural incidence days, following the Aberdeen & Elma School Districts.  We may also close if conditions worsen into the afternoon or evening, even if school was held during the day.  Check the studio answering machine at 532-8833 or check the website at www.highimpactdance.com, anytime there is questionable weather.  These days are also not made-up, since this is beyond our control.

4.    ATTENDANCE:

Make-ups are offered, only if, class is canceled by High Impact Dance due to instructor illness,  a High Impact Dance event/workshop/competition conflict, or school conflict for teachers still in school. Two weeks of missed classes by High Impact Dance other than planned holidays, is worked into the payment system and will not be made up or offered as a make-up. After this a substitute instructor will be provided if at all possible, a make-up class or a studio credit.  Sunday classes do miss more classes due to holiday weekends and workshop conflict.

Please call or email the studio if your child will be absent more than one week of classes, so we won’t worry about them.

5.   CLASS OBSERVATON:

Parent’s observation days will be held the last lesson of every other month: October, December, February, and April.  No siblings or extra children may attend the observation classes, as it is very disruptive.  The only exception is the Star Babies class, where parent participation may be necessary for the first part of the year.  If you have a concern about the observation policy, you may speak with the director.  This policy is in effect to give your child the most proficient dance/music class we can without interruptions.  You will also see more progression this way too.

6.     ATTIRE:

Our attire is listed on the website under our news section, please take a look at it. Students must come to class(es) with the right attire and shoes.  Please remember this is dance class, not recess at school.  Hair must be secured up and out of face.  Secure buns for ballet classes.

7.    RESPECT:

High Impact Dance believes that part of the discipline taught in dance/music is respect.  Respect for instructors, parents, and other student’s is required at all times. Disrespect will not be tolerated at High Impact Dance and can be the cause of removal from a class or the dance/music program.

High Impact Dance reserves the right to refuse service to anyone that is disruptive to the program.

8.    RECITAL AND PERFORMANCES:

High Impact Dance does a Winter Holiday program and a “BIG” end of the year recital in May/June.  Performing is optional.  HIGH IMPACT encourages performances though as it is the end result to their hard work.  Commitment forms and costume orders for our winter show will be done at the beginning of September and in December for our May recital.  Costumes are required for performances.  Costumes are usually around $55.00 for younger dancers and $65.00 for older dancers and the holiday costume is used again in our May/June show too.  Most classes buy two costumes per year.  Other performances are available through the year (malls, festivals, Grays Harbor Fair and nursing homes).  We’ve even performed in Disneyland and many other great places.   This year we will even have a Performing Company for anyone wanting to do a lot of performing.   Workshops are highly encouraged.

9. HEAD LICE AND OTHER ILLNESSES:

No child is allowed at dance class if they have nits or head lice.  They must be completely free of nits to attend class.  If your child has a fever, has thrown up, or sick in any way the day of dance please keep them home until they are healthy again.
